How to use this VAT / GST calculator
- Adding tax to a net price (most common): Enter the net price (e.g. $100), enter the tax rate (e.g. 20%), and select Add Tax. Result: tax = $20, total payable = $120.
- Removing tax from a gross price (reverse calculation): Enter the gross price (e.g. $120), enter the tax rate (20%), and select Remove Tax. Result: net price = $100, tax component = $20.
- Important: The reverse formula is Net = Gross ÷ (1 + Rate), not Gross × Rate.
- Use cases: freelancer invoices, supplier receipt reconciliation, quoted-price checks, and input tax credit extraction.
What the result means
The tool returns net amount, tax amount, and gross amount. In Remove Tax mode, it extracts tax from an already tax-inclusive figure using reverse VAT logic.
