VAT & GST Calculator — Add Tax, Remove Tax & Inclusive Price

This VAT and GST calculator works in two directions: add tax to a net (pre-tax) price to get the gross (tax-inclusive) total, or remove tax from a gross price to find the original net amount. It works for any percentage rate - making it useful for VAT in Europe, GST in Australia, Canada, India, and New Zealand, Sales Tax in the US, or any other consumption tax worldwide.

Useful for freelancers checking invoices, shoppers comparing prices, business owners reconciling receipts, and anyone verifying a tax charge before payment.

How to use this VAT / GST calculator

  1. Adding tax to a net price (most common): Enter the net price (e.g. $100), enter the tax rate (e.g. 20%), and select Add Tax. Result: tax = $20, total payable = $120.
  2. Removing tax from a gross price (reverse calculation): Enter the gross price (e.g. $120), enter the tax rate (20%), and select Remove Tax. Result: net price = $100, tax component = $20.
  3. Important: The reverse formula is Net = Gross ÷ (1 + Rate), not Gross × Rate.
  4. Use cases: freelancer invoices, supplier receipt reconciliation, quoted-price checks, and input tax credit extraction.

What the result means

The tool returns net amount, tax amount, and gross amount. In Remove Tax mode, it extracts tax from an already tax-inclusive figure using reverse VAT logic.
